Public officials gain the respect and gratitude of the populace when they attentively address and resolve community issues. A striking example of this occurred in Madhya Gumpu, a tribal hamlet in the Subbaraopet gram panchayat of the Dummugudem Mandal.
- The villagers chose to rename their community in honor of IAS officer Anudeep Durishetty (IAS: 2018: TG).
- Durishetty served as the Kothagudem district Collector until recently and made notable strides in problem-solving for the region.
- The residents of the hamlet had been grappling with a lack of proper road access for about half a century, a situation that became quite alarming during emergencies.
- Their long-standing land acquisition issue, which hampered the construction of a road, was finally resolved under the initiative of Durishetty, leading to the establishment of a gravel road in February.
- This renaming is not unprecedented. Another similar gesture happened when a village was named Ashok Nagar in 2006.
- This renaming paid tribute to the then Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and is located in the Kadapa district in his constituency.
